I will be adding a new feature to the Make Orwell Fiction Again blog, beginning Friday, March 8, about my conversion from Judaism to Catholicism.
Called A Daughter of the Hebrews Turns to Jesus, it will relate my journey of faith.
I remember once, at age maybe 5 or 6, asking my father Seymour who God was. He replied, “God is your conscience. We all have a bit of God in us, but none of us is a God.” I still think it’s a great answer, but now I am making that leap of faith that accepts Jesus as a God, part of the Holy Trinity. No one is more surprised than I.
The weekly feature will run for four weeks, until Good Friday, although I will perhaps add a coda on April 5, when I can report what it felt like to be baptized at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Delray Beach, FL, at the age of 74, during the Easter Vigil, in the company of friends, relatives, and the congregation.
I am making A Daughter of the Hebrews Turns to Jesus available to all of you, paid and unpaid subscribers, in hopes you will share the essays widely on Social Media, a skill that eludes me. If you welcome the feature, I may make it my next book project.
In the meantime, I will continue the political blogs, hopefully on Wednesdays (unless life intervenes). This week I’m looking at the topic: Who’s the Insurrectionist Now?
Thank you for your comments, your intelligence, your support. I like forward to our continued interactions, rooting for the country that formed us.
You are amazing! All the best to you as you expand your love of God! I am not a particularly religious person--specifically, not a fan of organized religion --but most definitely a strong believer in God. I love your Father's description of God as our conscience--he was obviously a wise man (and begat a wise daughter). Love you!
I LOVE reading your writing! Even that informative piece!! And I am incredibly happy for you and your life’s journey! Here is to you and all of our daily adventure.
