When the Mass Media Takes Sides
Imagine waking up when day, opening Google — the go-to search engine since the Internet’s invention — and asking for information about the assassination attempt on President Trump’s life. If you did this last week, you would have found … crickets.
Facebook too. And on some FB pages, Meta's AI bot incorrectly labeled the assassination attempt as “fictional,” no doubt aided by FBI Director Christopher Wray’s shameful attempt to claim the bullet that hit Trump was just shrapnel, or, as former COVID Czar Tony Fauci put it, “a superficial wound.”
Re-enactments show that if Trump had not turned his head to the right, he would be dead. But to those in Washington DC who are still on a campaign of character assassination against Trump, facts take a back seat to optics, and actual video is consigned to memory holes. Now the FBI wants Trump to come in for an interview, and supporters are taking to X to urge him not to go, fearful he will be trapped into perjury or some other offense that would bring yet another prosecution.
Meanwhile, some in the security field, notably Don Bongino, who served 12 years in the Secret Service and has written two books on the agency’s weaknesses, are worried there may well be another attempt on Trump’s life. Especially since the Left and its many soundbite experts have made Trump hatred an emblem of their virtue.
Like Winston Smith in George Orwell’s prophetic novel 1984, these officials are diligent workers in the government’s Ministry of Truth, scrubbing news stories — Kamala Harris was the border czar, overseeing the largest invasion of our country, but in the media’s current telling — a complete 180 from their earlier “journalism,” — it was never her job to stem the flood. In toppling statues of our notables, they rewrite history. The1619 Project is a deliberate attempt to erase the 1776 Declaration of Independence. And by the way, if you ask Wikipedia, another card-carrying member of the Ministry of Truth, about the “declaration of independence,” you will be directed to a list of 50 countries that have one, in alphabetical order. We’re near the bottom.
Google, which was instrumental in censoring Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” in the 2020 election and minimizing results for Republican senate candidates in 2022, sending almost 60% more GOP campaign emails to spam folders than Dems, seems to be gearing up for a redo. As I have written before, in 2004 founders Larry Page & Sergey Brin chose the slogan “Don’t Be Evil.” After selling the search engine in 2018, the motto was changed to “Do the Right Thing.” And as Elon Musk noted, for a time last week, if you looked up Trump, you only got news about Kamala Harris. A lot of it.
Election Interference, Take Three.
This time, outrage from conservatives, Republicans and champions of press freedom succeeded in stilling Google’s instincts to interfere in the election results — for now. No one is fooled. They will try again. A more robust conservative mediasphere will police them, but they are adept at doing damage before the election, apologizing to Congress afterward. They do unctuous well.
As for the rest of regime media, their pivot from contempt for Kamala Harris to adoration is a portrait in hypocrisy. But why? Why would networks and cable channels, newspapers and magazines suddenly embrace Harris? Isn’t their job to report on the news? No longer. Now they play partisan politics, attacking people who hurt their candidate’s cause, which would threaten their own highly-lucrative power.
Consider the case of a woman who has changed her mind about gender transitions. Cloe Cole was 15 years old when, under the guidance of her “gender-affirming” school, officials told her parents she would kill herself without the surgery. So she agreed to have her healthy breasts removed and a male’s chest build. She was convinced “it would make me happy, that it would make me whole.” Now 19, she regrets the decision, saying she has wakened from “a nightmare,” calling the process of puberty blockers, testosterone treatments and concave chest surgery “brutal.”
When she testified before Congress in 2022, the Dem media gave her the silent treatment. But now, as she seeks to galvanize growing opposition to gender surgery — the U.K.’s Cass Report found there is no good evidence that is a necessary, life-saving treatment, and many now believe it is medical malpractice — the Los Angeles Times wrote a hit piece suggesting Cole was in it for the money she makes from speeches.
The problem with taking sides — whether against Trump or for gender surgery — is that the media has eroded trust. It seems naive to hope for them to just return to reporting, so we will just have to get ever more dogged about exposing their lies.
Or, as Trump once said, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” If you put this phrase into Google Images search box, you will find no photos of Donald Trump lifting his arm as blood drips down his face. So in case you would like to see it again, let’s frame it.
