"Unburdened By What Has Been"
Kamala Harris often says, “I can imagine what can be, unburdened by what has been.” She used the expression so often as veep that critics mocked her for it.
I was never quite sure what she meant. Maybe she meant that, unburdened by the Constitution, she could pack the Supreme Court. Or maybe she thought that, untethered from laws on immigration and women’s equality, she could fling the border wide open to drugs, sex trafficking and criminal terrorists while destroying Title IX by welcoming biological males to women’s sports. Or maybe should thought she could ignore with impunity the requirement that any change to the Constituion — like the right to free speech or the practice of religion or the right to bear arms — requires a vote of 2/3 of the House, 2/3 of the Senate and 3/4 of the states. So yesterday!
But now I realize that what she meant is that she is unburdened by the norms of politics, because the regime media, or if you remember Soviet history you might call them the Pravda press, will cover for her.
She doesn’t have to answer questions, or give interviews, because seemingly without any marching orders, these people who call themselves journalists will make it all go away. Time Magazine lauded her on its cover, airbrushing over her coup in booting Biden out of the race by proclaiming this time in American history “Her Moment.” And this after the Harris campaign repeatedly declined Time’s interview requests.
Consider the No Tax on Tips proposal that she copied from Donald Trump, who introduced it a few months ago to great roars of approval at his rallies. When Trump announced the policy in June — crediting a waitress in Vegas who apprised him of the authoritarian Biden policy — CBS tweeted, “Former President Donald Trump’s vow to stop taxing tips would cost the federal government up to $250 billion over 10 years.” When Harris proposed it two months later, the very same CBS X account said, “Vice President Kamala Harris is rolling out a new policy position, saying she’ll fight to end taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.” The hypocrisy is epic.
The fact is that as veep, Harris voted for the IRS crackdown on tips, she backed adding 87,000 more IRS agents, she cast the tie vote in the Senate to enact it all.
What’s even more damning is that she is still the second-highest official in the US government. If she wanted to end the Tax on Tips program, she could do so now.
Ditto the border. She’s the border czar, after all, although these pseudo-journalists keep trying to erase their own coverage of the border czar announcement in 2021.
Now, she keeps saying that on Day One, she’ll fix the border by adding more border agents and closing detention centers. The border agents will facilitate the speeding up of entries. Closing detention centers will ensure more illegals speed into the country. But hey, Kamala, if that’s what you’re going to do, why not do so now?
Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have between them no experience in the private sector. They have never run a business, paid a payroll, contributed anything of value. Sometimes I think they are like AI robots, not yet ready for a prime time interview, only good at juggling policies to please targeted audiences.
Under the Biden-Harris presidency, likely Barack Obama’s third term, our country has seen a crisis in inflation — record high gas prices in all 50 states, record high consumer debt, food prices and housing costs through the roof. Once, asked about inflation, Harris said it stems from the supply chain crisis.
“Leaders” who have spent all of their careers on the public payroll have no idea how to make the economy hum. They have no idea that over-regulation weighs down entrepreneurs. They give lip service to those suffering. But their only solution is to confiscate wealth and put everyone on government handouts.
The Kamala Harris record is clear. She has supported defunding the police, a total ban on fracking, gun confiscation, an end to private health insurance, taxpayer-funded health care and voting rights for illegal immigrants. In the Senate, she voted against judicial nominees who were Catholic, led a vendetta against Justice Brett Kavanaugh. As vice president, she lobbied for the green new deal, and to abolish ICE. At her rallies, she requires ID. But at the polling place, she fights it.
I think maybe it’s time to take Kamala Harris at her word. She says she is a radical. She says we “should stayWoke.” She says a lot of things. Here are some of them.
