This Land Is Our Land
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the concept of sovereignty.
When a country erases its borders, when its judges ignore the Constitution, when criminal aliens are privileged above its citizens, when its media preaches globalism over nation and its elite ruling class privileges woke ideology over the realities of biology — all of this endangers the nation. And it is meant to.
Take the Superbowl halftime show headlined by Bad Bunny, a rapper who performed in Spanish, telegraphing ahead of time that the audience had a few months to learn the language. Ours is an English-speaking country. Later, if you read the English translations of the lyrics, they were lewd, lascivious and inappropriate.
“I twerk [i.e., shake my butt] alone (Hmm, ayy) Ayy, ayy, ayy, move it, move it, move it ... My D [penis] is being chased ... Grab it like a bonga She took a pill that made her horny She fu--s in the Audi, not in the Honda, ayy If I give it to you, don't call me 'Cause this is not to make you love me If your boyfriend doesn't—he better fu—, ayy, ayy .When she twerks she doesn't stop She smokes and gets horny, ayy ...”
The Washington Post said of Bad Bunny's show that it “had the kind of wholesome, traditional family values that would have fit right in with some of the more sentimental commercials that appeared during the game.” Maybe that’s why the WashPost is failing. Maybe the FCC, whose rules ban obscene content on the airwaves, should fine Bunny, the NFL and anyone else involved in this abomination.
But the even greater harm was a display behind the singer of the flags of countries in the Americas — from Argentina to Canada — as if to say, we are all Americans. As the Federalist noted, his objective was literally to erase the United States of America.
No sooner had the music stopped then three US athletes in Milan for the Olympics started bashing the flag that adorns their uniforms. They complained about ICE and its enforcement of immigration laws. They rambled on about the queer community. One said he was competing for friends and family, not nation, because the US no longer “aligns with my morals.”
Ours is not the only nation facing elimination by political proxy.
In the UK recently, police informed an older man that asking someone to speak English could qualify as a hate crime. Britain was once a country that prized the English language — it was Shakespeare, after all, who wrote in Hamlet ‘This above all: to thine own self be true.’ Now the nation that gave us Churchill’s oratory and Lord Tennyson’s poetry no long favors speaking the nation’s language. Breathtaking.
In Germany, a group of 11 migrants gang-raped a 14-year-old girl over several hours. Later, a woman called the migrants “dishonorable pigs. She was charged with hate speech. The Publica reported that for “offending” Muslim migrants, she is now serving a longer jail term than the rapists. I’ve often thought that rape was a weapon of conquest, in this case the conquest of a once-Christian nation by Islam. Horrifying.
Since then, leaders of nations in Europe have only doubled down. During the pandemic, they censored information and political speech about COVID-19, as the Biden administration did in the US. Now they are pressuring tech companies — and fining Elon Musk’s X — to censor Americans on mass migration and transgenderism.
Nigel Farage, the Reform leader in Parliament, says the UK’s censorship laws have turned it into North Korea, with a stifling effect on speech throughout the West.
I think about this now because I have been doing interviews about my new book, Trump’s Superpower: A Historical Novel About the Founding Fathers & One Founding Mother. In the book, I bring the founders down from heaven for our 250th birthday. They have marvelous encounters with 21st Century Americans — Ben Franklin is arrested for transgendering someone, George Washington gets his teeth fixed and Alexander Hamilton dances with First Lady Melania Trump at the White House. They also have an ongoing debate about whether this is the America they meant to leave us.
As I discuss the book with media hosts, I realize that the Left’s war on the founders, which I wrote about previously, is designed to topple our national fabric. For more than a century, historians, journalists and left-wing politicians have trashed the founding fathers, disparaging them as greedy, misogynist or racist. But in fact their principles — so eloquently enunciated by Thomas Jefferson in his Declaration of Independence — are our most precious legacy. That all are created equal. That governments rule by the consent of the governed. That our rights are innate and do not — as Sen. Kaine seems to believe — come from man, but from the Creator.
I titled the book Trump’s Superpower is because I believe President Trump understands that he cannot Make America Great Again unless he rescues the legacy and values of our founding fathers. He stands on their shoulders to invite Americans to celebrate our 250th birthday as the longest living constitutional republic in history, with a Bill of Rights and a Constitution widely copied. The founders have taken abuse in recent years — their statues toppled, their Enlightenment ideas and Christian values disparaged. But they, and the nation they founded, represent our very sovereignty.

I never heard any outrage when Obummer deported millions of illegal immigrants. The law has to be enforced. Liberals hate anyone or anything that brings unity. I believe it's a global plan by liberals create division and chaos with a goal of winning. Awesome article, Johanna.
The RW blocks the LW from their utopia/eschaton, so LW want us gone. Their signs say "will trade racists for refugees."
They don't see us as fellow citizens of their nation/global village (yes, it's theirs), but they don't want us to secede either, because we might hurt someone there. The Left want to cut us off from the economy. They're enemies, not compatriots. We share paper citizenship, not allegiance / heart citizenship. 1 polity, not 1 nation.
So we need our own military, our own government. Red states shouldn't ask permission to secede. The permission is in the 10th Amendment.
