The other day Charles Barkley — great NBA basketball player and funny sportscaster — showed his true colors. Turns out he is just like the rest of the mass media complex — intolerant of anyone who disagrees with their worldview, and belittling of their opinions, especially if they are black and conservative.
In an interview with CNN’s Gayle King, Barkley said he would assault any black person he saw wearing a t-shirt featuring the Fulton County mugshot of Donald Trump. The former president had noted that black voters were resonating to the mugshot — a scowling image of a man angry at being falsely accused — because it mirrors the experience of many in their community. Barkley was having none of it.
“If I see a black person walking around with Trump mugs, I'm going to punch him in the face,” he said. When Gayle King reminded him that assault was a crime, Barkley said he would be happy to be arrested because he could bail himself out and celebrate.
A New York Times/Siena College poll shows Trump winning 23% of black voters. A USA Today/Suffolk University poll says President Biden's support among black voters is down from 92% in 2020 to 63% now. Many of the disaffected black voters — including such big names as rapper 50 Cents — are furious about the eight million people who have invaded through our open southern border, many shipped to “sanctuary cities” run by Democrats, cutting services to the black community.
In Chicago, where officials have closed parks, recreation centers and schools to house illegal migrants, where every available spot in 21 city shelters is being used by illegal migrants and where thousands of them are sleeping on the floors of police stations across the city and at O’Hare and Midway airports, residents are angry.
In a contentious meeting at City Hall last fall, they chanted “Build The Wall,” and complained about a rising crime rate from unvetted migrants, the siphoning of financial resources from black citizens, and the resulting competition for jobs.
Nationally too blacks have begun to make public their anger over the plot by Democrats to finance illegal immigration on the backs of the black citizens whose ancestors arrived as slaves and now find their own freedom threatened. Rapper 50 Cents blasted New York Mayor’s plan to distribute $5 million to migrants on pre-paid credit cards. Ditto California’s plan to spend $2.6 billion of taxpayer money for free healthcare for the migrants. Radio host Charlamagne Tha God said he is shocked by how many black working class people call his show to vent about the migrants.
The media reaction to all this? Denial, ridicule, black-shaming — and arrogance.
“I cringe when I hear black folks spew anti-immigrant rhetoric,” wrote Natalie Y. Moore in a Chicago Sun-Times piece titled “Black Chicago, let’s check our attitudes.”
Last night, after Trump swept all the Super Tuesday states, an all-female panel at MSNBC ridiculed exit polls in Virginia showing deep voter concern about the open border. Quipped Rachel Maddow, “Well Virginia does have a border with West Virginia.” Queue the giggles from the panel, nausea from me.
Media elitism, the haughty disdain for anyone not a Far Left ideologue, is as familiar as Hillary Clinton’s dismissal of conservatives as “intolerables,” or Barack Obama’s comment that working-class voters in old industrial towns decimated by job losses, “cling to guns or religion or anti-immigrant sentiment,” or Joe Biden’s telling a black influencer in 2020, “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black.”
But even more frightening is the way Democratic media establishment figures — fabulously rich, free from their constituents’ key worries of inflation and immigration — are using their influence to encourage mass disobedience against feared 2024 election results. Convinced that Trump is evil, they believe all strategies to deny him are justified. I fear if he comes close to the Oval Office, they will stop at nothing.
So far, using lawfare, they have him tied up in four major court battles, costing him time and expense to protect his wealth and liberty. After the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that states had no right to keep him off the ballot, Rep. Jamie Raskin plotted to have Congress declare Trump an insurrectionist, bypassing the decision. Dems suggested — with no sense of irony — that if Trump wins, Dems on the Hill should simply not certify the election results. This is precisely what Trump wanted in 2020 when Vice President Pence refused. With a huge money advantage over Republicans, Dems are also plotting to use the Deep State bureaucracy to undermine Trump should he win.
Even more telling is the silence of the national media when a story departs from the Far Left narrative. LibsOfTikTok daily exposes the extremism of transgender activists that they post themselves, examples of reading porn to children that mainstream media refuses to cover. And when Steve Baker, a Libertarian and journalist who covered the Jan 6 riots, was arrested last week by the FBI for being in the US Capitol, none of the journalists there with him from mainstream outlets rose to his defense.
Some 60 journalists went into the Rotunda that day. The only ones charged were right of center media outlets. Baker was charged with a misdemeanor of “entering a restricted building.” Glenn Beck, during their interview, blasted the media silence.
“If that's a crime, then the crime has to be punished equally,” said Glenn, “so, the New York Times, the Washington Post — every single journalist would have to be charged with that crime, right?”
Perhaps the loudest silence from the millionaire media megastars is to the current campaign by US Attorney General Merrick Garland to outlaw Voter ID laws, on the absurd theory that they discriminate against black voters. Maybe he thinks they are too ignorant to know how to register to vote. More likely, he is just looking for a way to register to vote all those illegal migrants eager to show gratitude to Biden.
All of this begs the question of integrity. In the face of Democrat attempts to interfere with the 2024 election, and plotting to overturn the feared results, who exactly are the insurrectionists? And amid an effort by the Biden administration to remove voter integrity reform like Voter ID, who exactly is the threat to democracy?
With thanks to Blaze Media, reaction to Barkley of black Trump supporters:
"Anyone seen Charles Barkley? I heard he was looking for me. I grew up in the 'you hit me, I’m gonna hit you back' era," said conservative activist Zeek Arkham while wearing a MAGA hat and a Trump mugshot T-shirt.
"Charles Barkley fell into the media’s trap by taking a 2 hour speech from President Trump out of context. One thing I can guarantee is when you see Wesley Hunt sporting 'The Mugshot' Sir Charles won’t be punching this Combat Vet in the face," said Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas).
"F*** Charles Barkley I just heard would he said about me. N**** f*** you b***h, I'm not hard to find," said Dominick McGee.
"OK #CharlesBarkley, where do we meet? I can book a plane ticket while I'm on the air," said SiriusXM radio host David Webb.
"Yo, Sir Charles, there is a term for this. It’s called assault and battery," said Larry Elder.
"Aye #CharlesBarkley … what you about to do now ?" said another black Trump supporter wearing the mugshot T-shirt.
"Tell Charles Barkley to come to Texas. I just want to talk," said another black Trump supporter.
Thank you for your insight and bringing up this ironic state of affairs we are living through. It makes me tentative about the upcoming election.
