Gaslighting Us

As George Orwell, the patron saint of this blog, wrote in his novel 1984, “The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” This is also the playbook of the Marxist Media and its puppets in the Far Left Political Establishment: if we lie big enough, people will come to believe it.

The latest target of this Nazi-inspired Big Lie was Vice President J.D. Vance and his lovely wife Usha, who watched the Olympics’ Opening Ceremony in Milan.

NBC, which has the rights to broadcast the games, is well-known as an incubator for fake news. Its reporters, spotting the Vances on the Jumbo-tron, breathlessly announced they were being booed. I’m sure there were some jeers. America is a superpower. Not everyone is pleased. But raw crowd footage and alternative angles showed the opposite — loud cheers for Team USA, its athletes and its leaders.

No one should be surprised. The Peacock Network has a long, proud history of pushing a false narrative in the service of its left-wing politics.

In 2017, NBC reported gleefully on Russian election interference — the subtext, how else could Donald Trump have defeated Hillary Clinton? The network said its reporting was confirmed by U.S. intelligence agencies in an assessment that Russia aimed to help Trump and hurt Clinton. Thanks to DNI Tulsi Gabbard, we now know that the assessment, ordered by President Obama, was bogus. Even after special prosecutor Robert Mueller pronounced there had been no collusion, NBC detailed lots of evidence of Russian interference efforts, like hacking and social media campaigns.

That same year NBC joined the bandwagon of woke journalists reporting that President Trump had called white nationalists in Charlottesville “very fine people.” In fact, Trump said he was talking about the two sides in the debate over whether to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee. For years, NBC called Trump’s “very fine people” comment problematic. Anything to keep the lie going.

In 2019, NBC portrayed Kentucky Catholic school students wearing MAGA hats as taunting Native American elder Nathan Phillips. Student Nick Sandmann sued NBC for defamation for $275 million. He also sued CNN and the Washington Post. All three cases were settled out of court, details confidential. In 2020, NBC scoffed at the Hunter Biden laptop, which had it been widely disseminated could have hurt Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, doubting its authenticity.

The mass media is telling lies to gaslight MAGA, and buttress those on the Left. And the only way to counter their influence is to post the truth widely on X and other social media outlets, and to contest the space called culture.

Those anti-ICE elitist celebrities at the Grammys and those US athletes at the Olympics have been spoon-fed a Big Lie — that illegal alien criminals are part of the fabric of our nation, that their murders, rapes and child abuse do not affect us, that we have a duty to turn over our tax dollars to foreigners who came unlawful, that ICE should not be enforcing the federal law on immigration. Rarely does the media highlight pictures of patriotism — like women’s downhill skier Breezy Johnson overcome with emotion during the playing of the US national anthem after winning the women’s downhill and grabbing the first gold medal for Team USA.

You have a problem with immigration law? Put down your protest sign and pick up your phone. Call Congress. Trump is following the law on the books, as every president is required to do on taking the oath of office.

Like the mass media, Democrat leaders keep lying to protect their power.

The SAVE Act — requiring ID and proof of citizenship to vote — could come up in the Senate soon. Already, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has called it ‘Jim Crow 2.0’ and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has warned it could hurt women’s rights to vote, because they sometimes get married or divorced and change their names.

So the Dems are saying that blacks and females are too inept to figure out how to get proof of ID, cards they would necessarily need to apply for government programs, like Medicare or Section 8 housing, or to board an airplane or buy alcohol.

The real reason is that they fear loss of power without votes of illegals.

MAGA has endured much over the last ten years, and won much.

But as long as the media is gaslighting the public, as long as they are peddling lies in the name of a story line, we are on defense. And the only way I know to defeat their lies is to tell the truth, to craft our own stories, and to engage the mainstream culture.

No one has done that better than First Lady Melania Trump. Her new movie Melania, in the words of Breitbart, humiliated both the media and the celebrity class. Exceeding expectations, the movie brought in $8 million the first weekend, $3.5 million its second, the best documentary box office opening in a decade.

And as John Nolte noted:

Melania drew a bigger opening weekend on fewer screens (1,500) than this Dwayne Johnson movie did on 3,345 screens.

Predictably, critics gave a thumbs-down — 6% approval, compared to 99% by film goers on the review site Rotten Tomatoes, forced to admit there was no manipulation.

The film is as exquisite as she is, and more importantly it tells a story that the lefties in the media refuse to tell — she has a record of achievement, and she is building on it in the second term. In a letter Russian President Vladimir Putin, she urged him to release Ukrainian children captured in war. So far 7 kids have been reunited with their families. She is networking to propel efforts to help foster children with housing and education and to put guardrails to the bullying and sexual abuse that hurt children through social media.

NBC won’t tell her story, but she can, and she has, beautifully. More like this!
