It was a tsunami of change, a flood that must have rattled official Washington.

As I watched my X feed load up Friday night with breathtaking announcements from one major federal agency after another, I thought the Founding Fathers must be smiling down from heaven. Trump has liberated their legacy.

From the Justice silo came news that all Jan 6 federal prosecutors had been fired, escorted out of their offices by security, their computers locked. Ditto David Sundberg, the FBI assistant director who ran the J6 op, 20 leaders of FBI field offices, and the squad that conducted the raid on Mar-a-Lago, rifling through Melania’s underwear drawer and doctoring the evidence. As for those 51 intel officers who said Hunter Biden’s laptop — full of incriminating evidence of his father’s corruption — was part of a Russian plot to help Trump win the 2020 election? Stripped of their security clearances and banned from entering federal properties. As ex Navy intel officer Jack Posobiec wryly noted, “When you come at the king, you best not miss.”

From the Pentagon came word that the legacy names of the Pentagon press corps were being kicked out. The press pool — comprised of one print outlet, one TV, one radio & one online — will now rotate. The current lineup, ordered to vacate by Feb. 14: Print: NYT, TV: NBC, Radio: NPR, Online: Politico. The new lineup: Print: NYPost, TV: OAN, Radio: Breitbart News Network, Online: HuffPost

SecDef Pete Hegseth had other news. The Pentagon would no longer commemorate the “identity months” — Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month and National American Indian Heritage Month. Instead, as we are all Americans, the Pentagon will celebrate the Fourth of July — one country, one celebration.

Over at DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency headed by Elon Musk announced it had cancelled 104 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) contracts from 25 federal agencies, for a savings of over $1 billion. Top spenders were Treasury ($25 million) and HHS ($28 million). Of note: the Office of Personnel Management had only three contracts cancelled, but the total: nearly $500 million. DOGE took over OPM, literally, with sofas for sleeping, cancelling remote access to senior officials. At the General Services Administration, with a $33 billion budget, in charge of overseeing $66 billion in government purchases, the DOGE team forced GSA’s tech arm to delete huge swaths of code dedicated to virtue signaling about racism instead of mission.

Elon Musk also said his team discovered that payment approval officers at Treasury were instructed to ALWAYS approve payments, even to unknown or terrorist groups. Perhaps that’s why Treasury’s highest ranking official David Lebryk, is resigning rather than comply with a DOGE audit of their billion-dollar-spending spree.

Also on Friday, the Trump administration mandated that all federal employees had to remove pronouns from their email signatures by 5 p.m. USDA ordered all references of “climate change” removed from its websites. The State Department, in its advisories to Americans traveling abroad, replaced LGBTQ with LGB. In the words of Jaimee Michell, a gay activist who heads the Gays Against Groomers organization so reviled for campaigning against the sexualization of young children, “Donald Trump has granted us the divorce that we have been wanting for so long,” separating the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual alliance of gay Americans from the fringe transgenders.

All this capped a week in which the Trump administration:

• Cut off government funding all NGOs that facilitated illegal immigration, including Catholic Services, which earned $1.4 billion in 2024 and is advising illegals how to evade detection by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

• Offered a buyout of eight months’ salary to more than 2 million federal employees if they chose to leave voluntarily by Feb. 6.

• Slapped 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada, and 10% on China, for facilitating the flow of fentanyl into the US, which has killed many Americans.

• Sent Ric Grenell, envoy for special missions, to Venezuela to win the release of six US hostages swept up in dictator Nicolas Madura’s repressive regime.

• Ordered precision air strikes on ISIS targets in Somali, killing “many terrorists.”

“He is a whirlwind, a Category Five storm,” said Michael Genovese, who heads the Global Policy Institute at Loyal Marymount University. “He floods the zone, and it is difficult to keep up with him.”

Said one MAGA fan: “Trump has literally done everything I voted for and more in a week and a half and most of his cabinet isn’t even in place yet. Forget Rushmore. He gets his own mountain.”
